"While I’ve always love cacti and other succulents," Greg Krehel, the video’s creator, told BuzzFeed Life, "my interest in Echinopsis took off a little over two years back when I realized just how dramatic they can be."
"Not just dramatic, but outrageous," he said. "Big numbers of flowers blooming on a single plant. Flowers in colors so garish that the hybrids’ kooky names (like 'Antimatter' and 'Toxic Waste') seem, if anything, to be understatements."
So despite the fact that he's not a professional photographer, Krehel bought a DSLR and set out to capture their beauty.
