This Father Set Aside Tradition To Honor His Tomboy Daughter On Her Wedding Day

Not all family traditions are one size fits all.

Jim Mickunas couldn't imagine doing a traditional father/daughter dance at his daughter's wedding. Knowing that his little girl who grew up preferring sports to dressing up, he had something a little more "them" in mind.

Jim explains: "My daughter has always found her own path. She played Flag football at 6. She hated wearing dresses. She wore a tuxedo to her first communion. She lettered in Soccer and Track. She then became an Engineer for the largest automaker in the world when she was 22. I could not imagine having a traditional/father daughter dance with her. That is not what we were or are...So I came up with this. She had no idea!"

It started off like any other father/daughter dance, to the tune of Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World."

Then Jim abruptly stopped the music and surprised his daughter (and everyone else) by bringing out a pair of baseball gloves!

Immediately, the bride's face lit up and the crowd cheered as she played a spirited game of catch with her dad to John Fogerty's "Centerfield."
